Great phone, I have never had a problem with it what so ever.

Good phone but still Nokia must work on its design & usability.
Too small fonts, maybe you’re active sport lover person but you must stop & pay attention to the screen when you want to look at the clock. You must stop & take the phone closer to your eyes because of tiny fonts. When I received a message from my operator, I laughed because it can’t be read because of the smallest fonts.
The 5100 also has a screen small like this but its screen was ten times more readable than 5500. I can’t say negative comments about my keypad in the 3rd week of it, but the button, that is the centre of the up, down, left right keys coating has gone. & the last, the steel cover wreckages when it drops. Rubber cover was more successful.

This phone is pretty okay. Got many features I must admit. Great for outdoors but after a while the cover will come off. I have known 4 people who this happened to. It’s not so easy to type on the screen because it should be bigger. I wouldn’t advise anyone to buy it unless they’re the active or outdoor type. It’s more for that area not for a phone to keep. Hope this helps.

A Nokia user for the last 8 plus years I can say without hesitation this is the worst handset I’ve ever owned.
The keypad started to peel off within a few weeks & as soon as I started using it I started getting complaints of a constant echo on the line, so after putting up with it for a couple of months I sent it off for repair. The software was allegedly reinstalled, but if anything the problem is even worse now.
There is no keypad lock so my local taxi firm have the hump with me as they’re the first name on my contact list so I am accidentally bombarding them with crank calls when the phone is in my pocket.
I would do anything to get my old 6230i back than be stuck with this rubbish phone. Roll on April 2008 when I can finally upgrade & get rid of it! In my opinion, on paper this could be a great phone, in reality it’s a complete let down.

Well the phone really is meant for a much younger generation it has many key features but it is hardly usable not because of lack of knowledge but due to the worse service provided here. It’s a good mobile phone but it does have a very small screen still though a very good choice. Of the phone lacks speed but the rest of the phone is superb.

Best sports phone!

The most difficult phone I have ever had to use complete with the most difficult & complex instructions ever known in this decade. Not to mention the trash on phone guide, which is at best an utter waste of time, missing all the items you may want, like how to change the ring tone for example, & to top it all, it takes half a day to decide to switch on. Nice looking but a complex handset in my opinion.

One of the best durable hardy phones!

Don’t get it! Supposed to be a sport phone but is nowhere tough! I am about to send my second one in today! The first one had the common keypad separation issue – my phone was replaced after a huge fight. Now it has frozen & nothing I do can start it up again. I am disappointed as I was firm Nokia fan & I think I will be trying another brand soon.
On Nov 29, 2007, Laura - Leicester, UK said:
It’s a good phone & I have only just got it. My dad got it because he thought it would be perfect as a tough work phone. He found it to be rubbish & gave it to me. I think that the music player is fantastic, but what are all these problems with the keypad? I think it’s a good phone but I will definitely be getting a new one very soon.

Nokia 5500 is a kind of masterpiece in its kind, imagine really good functions of this phone that I am sure you have never seen in any other model & brand, like tapping command & sport features which act really amazing this phone, felt more than 30 times down but nothing happened to the phone so it shows durability of this mobile phone, regardless of these things it is really well designed phone which really can be carried piece of cake, forget its keypad I didn’t have any other problem with this phone & I love it therefore I won’t change it very soon thank you very much for this opportunity.

Good sized phone that easily fits your pocket, many features & excellent sounds. Screen a little bit small though & since I had the keypad replaced, I am quite careful that I don’t overuse it by too much texting. The keypad may be the major flaw. Apart from that it’s great.

It is an amazing phone, you may keep haring complaints about the keypad, leaving that aside it is a phone I really wanted.

I had this phone it is rubbish I recommend you not to buy this the running is inaccurate the screen is tiny the graphics are poor the music quality isn’t that good this phone is just a useless prototype.
On Nov 29, 2007, Dja - Seychelles said:
I brought this phone, & just had to replace the keypad. The back is also a slight pain. The features work brilliantly & texting is easy enough. No complaints, I like this phone, despite all the quirks; but then if you look hard enough everything has some sort of problems. You like something for it’s qualities, love something for it’s faults. Despite all the little problem, & the key pad is a problem for a phone designed to be tough, it is still one of the best phones out there. Oh & my keypad started to came of & I still managed to use it in that state for nearly 5 months. When I finally took it in for servicing they replaced the key pad & back no questions asked.
On Nov 29, 2007, Chris - Jakarta, Iran said:
Never had a worse phone. Two key pads fallen off now. Nokia refuse to acknowledge problem, presumably to avoid having to pay compensation to everyone who has bought one. The running feature is also pointless because it does not accurately log the distance you run, just estimates on the number of strides you take. Up until this, I had always used Nokia. Last week I bought a Sony Ericsson & have been amazed at the difference.
On Nov 29, 2007, Arnel Afuang - Makati, Philippines said:
I had mine last March 2007, & its keypad feel off after 1.5 month, but it doesn’t stop me from liking it. I just brought it to a Nokia center & they replaced my keypad for 545.00 pesos. I would have given it a 100% for the design but I think keypad is 5% of the overall design.
