Heard a lot of bad thinks about this phone but got it yesterday for Vodafone shop on PAYG. Great phone looks brilliant, menus good & usability fine. I have no problem what so ever with the touch keys or the navigation, all the comments about these were what was putting me off a bit but I am so glad I made my mind up. In short Great phone, mobile TV is pretty cool. No problems with the touch screen keys or the menu controls. Hope this helps.

Looks good & feels good, however it doesn’t behave too good.
User manual has no index, very hard to follow programming procedures. The touch keys are much too sensitive & should be made more tactile. I can’t find any information on how to reassign the two soft keys. I don’t mean the shortcut keys I mean the two touch keys that are reassignable.
When I use the Bluetooth headset & switch to auto answer the phone stays on auto answer when I disconnect the headset & switch off the Bluetooth; this is a real pain. The PC Studio software works OK on Windows XP, but won’t even try to load on the Vista Home. When I try to send an SMS from the PC I can’t get more than 160 characters into the message.
This is after 12 days of use & I must admit a fair bit of abuse. I carry the Samsung in my pocket & the old reliable Motorola V3X in the briefcase. Mr Samsung, the U700 has great potential, give it a makeover & iron out all the bugs before it joins the shelf.

Hi. I don’t know about the ratings. I don’t know Whether To Get the u700 Or u600, what one do you think is better? I have heard a lot of bad things about both phones but it is a matter of opinion I think.
Can you get the u700 phone in different colours if so what colours?
How many songs can you get on the phone without the card?
Can you turn the volume up & down as I heard you can’t?

Phone is good, but the problem is you cannot set MP3 songs as a message tones.

I got this handset as a free upgrade last week. Checked out the reviews on here & it didn’t look good. I had the same problems as everyone else with the touch buttons, really sensitive & it did call a couple of people when taking it out of my pocket.
I solved this problem though by going to phone settings, security, privacy lock & putting a pin lock on Contacts & Call log. Now the phone can’t dial anything without me putting in the PIN, easy. Tried to do the same thing via Call Settings menu so that I could block the Vodafone LIVE hotkey too but it won’t accept the password for some reason. Plan B for that is to possibly flash the phone back to Samsung firmware & make the hotkey assignable as something else (camera probably), that way I also get back the countdown timer I miss from my old D600.
Only thing on the phone that is defiantly worse than the d600 is the video recording & playback for some reason but to be honest I never used that anyway.
Overall, not the greatest phone ever but looks good & has a better camera than my old handset so I am going to keep it.

Good points
- A good looking phone.
- Sharp colour display.
- Very slim, you hardly notice it in your pocket.
Bad points
- Touch sensitive buttons are useless – a case of over engineering in my opinion, why phone designers decided on these I have no idea.
- the wheel button is pointless.
- Battery life is poor.
- the phone does not feel solid & the paint scrapes off after a few months.
- It’s hard to view the mirror screen outside in daylight.
Summary, I would not recommend this phone as it has too many annoyances!

Don’t understand why everyone’s complaining. Just got the phone & I already found the volume control, it’s on the side! Think it’s a really easy phone to use.

This is the worst phone I have ever owned. The battery is poor & needs charging every day. The biggest problem is however that the touchpad is too sensitive & unlocks itself in my bag – it sent 60 texts to a friend one day. It also regularly switches to loudspeaker or simply cuts out mid-call. I am going to have to abandon this phone mid-contract & use an old phone as it is so unreliable.
